About Open Learning :

Open Learning is a project that I started a couple years ago. The goal of this project is to serve as a hub of ideas. This site is build on the fact that we are living in an amazing period of history. There is so much going on that it’s hard to know where to begin. Open Learning’s mission is to help with that a bit.

Although there are fascinating development in politics, economics, and social policies. Here at Open Learning I am specifically interested in the intersection of science, technology and society. Particularly, the interaction of these subjects with our rapidly evolving information society. The fact that this site exists at all(and that you’re even reading this) is a testiment to the transformation that is taking place today.

The world is changing.

This is a bit of a cliché. Of course the world is always changing and always will change. But what’s happening now -with the open source movement, the information revolution(s), mass collaboration- has never happened in the history of humankind. We now have more information at our fingertips than ever before, how do we want to use it? We are no longer at point utopian future-casting, we exist in a time of action.

Databases, archives, libraries, schools, and academies: this is the new knowledge economy of an information society. And they’re right at your doorstep.
